Kakadu National Park
Shannon Architects have prepared a Facilities Manual for the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park.
This manual includes concepts for a suite of infrastructure ranging from visitor shelters to furniture and fencing. The infrastructure is being installed progressively across the 19,800 square kilometres of the Park and must cater for unique environmental impacts such as regular bushfire and inundation.
A major Development Plan for the Mary River Precinct identified potential new and improved visitor experiences. A masterplan for the iconic Gunlom Falls proposes improved visitor precincts and camping. We have been recently appointed as part of a larger team to progress the implementation of the Development Plan elements.
All proposals have required consultation with the traditional owners.
